Anyone who says that is basically saying pictures of real life sexy people they view online are unattractive because they are composed of pixels.

I think this mindset comes as a consequence of having a poor imagination.

Of course video game and cartoon characters can be made to look conventionally attractive. Noticing that isn't weird. Actually caring about it, however, is.

I would like to remind you that television and photographs are also nothing but a bunch of pixels yet people have no problem finding people on or in those attractive.

Video games are the same thing.

I think we all know the difference between a digitized photo of Sydney Sweeney vs caring about how attractive a fictional video game character might be.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with finding a fictional character attractive, so long as you realize that it's just fantasy, and don't confuse it with reality.
