Heard amazing things about both, with Name of the Wind's downside being fans have been waiting forever for a conclusion.

I'm less than 100 pages into Dark Tower book 1, and it's pretty slow/semi-incoherent. Considering reading NotW instead, but I don't like juggling books.

Does Dark Tower pick up?

Dark Tower is sorta all over the place but it's a good read if you commit.

Name of the Wind and Wise Man's Fear are better books IMO but you literally can't commit.

Were the last two Dresden books any good? I kind of checked out after the one before.

Dark Tower is great but the first book is a slow burn. The full series is flawed but its my favorite novel series.

Fucking Rothfuss. "hurr durr i wrote book 2 and 3 at the same time the third just needs editing"

almost a decade and a half ago

jackass even wrote an officially verified reply to a Goodreads review of The Doors of Stone mocking himself and that was probably 10 years ago at this point.

Tho Sanderson is much better at actually doing the act of writing than many other fantasy authors so I expect Wind and Truth MIGHT actually come out when it says it will

The Gentleman Bastard series is also really good if you want to hate yourself with unfinished shit.

Peace Talks was kinda meh but Battle Ground was good, especially if you're big on action. Problem was it was supposed to be one book but Butcher thought it was a bit too long for one book and split it into two and Peace Talks suffers from it.

Butcher is such a hack. He needs to wrap it up if he can't tell a story anymore.

Even though it is unfinished I love the first two books of the Kingkiller Chronicle. Honestly my only complaint is the third book isn't out.

As for The Dark Tower. I started it in high school when only the first two books of the series were done. It took me close to 15 years waiting on the rest. Though he cranked out the last 3 books in like a 2 year period.

I enjoyed the front half of the series much more than the back half. I think Wizard and Glass (4th book) is the single best book in the series and simply awesome.

For a series I enjoyed so much though and spent so many years waiting for a conclusion I have to say the end pissed me off so bad. And I knew it was going to piss me off when he literally stops the story and directly addresses you as the author and warns you to just stop reading and walk away, how its more about the journey than the conclusion but after all those years I wasn't turning back. What a dogshit ending.

It has totally soured me on wanting to ever reread the series honestly.

But even besides my issue with the ending. The series is very up and down for me where I just flat out enjoy Kingkiller Chronicle. Those two books are outstanding.
