But his actual feats and accomplishments were ridiculous

- Became an Animagnus as a teenager (most adults struggle with this)

- Killed twelve people with a single curse.

-Cut off his own arm

-Help orchestrate and plan a complicated ritual to bring back Voldemort

I guess he was only a joke compared to the other marauders like James, Sirius and Remus, but he was insane compared to the average wizard.

It's a weird tone thing where him being pathetic works in Azkaban because he's been a rat for over a decade but him continuing to be pathetic is weird. One rare example where I think the movies flubbed compared to the books a bit

How so? I am currently halfway through re-reading Order Of The Phoenix and he's every single bit as pathetic as the day he stopped being a rat

He blew up 12 muggles. I have to imagine an average wizard could do the same if they wanted.

Anyone can cut their arm off, though Ill admit it takes some balls to do it.

I believe the plan was all Voldemort. He just followed his directions. Pretty sure he fucked up along the way. Been a minute since I read the books though, so my memory may be off.

Most people struggle with help and training.

Average wizard doesn't have to balls or skill to kill 12 people with one spell.

Most people can't cut off their arm even in a life or death situation

Executing a complicated plan is difficult even if you didn't create it.

And the sleeping with Ron/marauders map thing is really hard ignore...

Him and barty crouch Jr were characters I felt were undercooked for the ridiculous feats they were able to achieve

Voldemort orchestrated most of it, but Wormtail did do some improv that ended up making things easier. Leading that one Ministry woman to Voldemort so they could use her as a pawn was entirely his doing, per Voldemort's own recount of the events.

cant wizards beat people with guns with most spells?

Spells are just guns that are slower

when I marathoned the movies, I kinda didn't pay attention to azkaban because the mid 2000s blue filter is trash, so I never bothered to learn any of the stuff about the secondary voldemort guys

If they have the element of surprise or pre-emptively defend themself, sure.

A gun's ability to kill someone is mostly independent of its user's skill level, though, so the majority of wizards wouldn't be able to beat them to the draw or defend themselves quick enough.

When he faked his own death with the explosion spell or whatever, he killed 12 people in the process. Sirius got blamed for it.
