built-in disc changer so you could insert a full game at once and it would swap discs automatically without even informing you.

I would loved that for Legend of Dragoon. At the end of the game and want to go back to earlier shops to get that OP gear? Better just stand by your PS so you can keep changing the disc it needs now.

Not entirely related but I liked how you could put some Playstation 1 games into a traditional cd player and listen to the soundtrack depending how the red book audio was encoded.
Of course disc changing, that really only bothered me in games where you'd go back to an older area and have to switch the disc back and forward.
