I dont miss single life, but I understand why some might. I really didnt spend much of my adult life single. I was in a long term relationship my sophomore year in college, we broke up, and then less than a year later I started dating my wife. That was 15 years ago. If I had spent more time single then I might long for the good ol days, but I just never had any.

Do I miss certain aspects of single life? Of course I do.

Would I trade my family for any of it? Hell no. My wife is the only person outside of my immediate family who has truly loved me for who I am and has no desire to change anything about me. My weird matches her weird, and you cant put a price on that.
Yes, weird matches her weird is a great description. She mitigates my general anxiety and I mitigate her social anxiety. With past people, we would make each other worse.

And my daughter is the greatest thing in my life and watching her grow up is the privilege of a lifetime.
I got 4 daughters. From my first marriage, but my wife adores them.

I've been with the same girl since I was 13 and she was 14.

We are now both 36, and we've never regretted a thing about all our time together. I think a large part of it is, because we met so young, our interests and joys have aligned as we've grown.

We game together, nerd out together with comics and movies. We just enjoy spending our time together doing our hobbies.
So high school sweethearts? That's so wholesome. Glad to hear you're both happy. And yeah, having a partner that's just as nerdy as you is great

I know what you mean but yeah like others say it's not a big deal. I think there's a part of our brain that is always a bit wired to think 'what am I missing out on' and the desire to have sparks with someone new.

But I think about what that life would practically be and it would be a massive downgrade compared to what I have now. I overall am an introvert and loner and my wife (and now my daughters) are a consistent factors who give me the motivation to always be a better person.

I am also very aware of the people who I know that are single or divorced at my age. Not envious of them in any way whatsoever.

Not even quite that. We met online in a Resident Evil RP chat room back on..TalkCity. She lived in California, I lived in Florida.

We ended up officially moving in together in Colorado in 2009. Been living together since. Have only spent about 15 days apart since 2009, and that was spread over 3 times I went on vacations; twice for meet ups with an online group of friends and once for twitchcon. She is nervous about flying, so she opted to not go on those. But otherwise, we spend every day together.

This is my issue. I have had serious FOMO since 2017, but admittedly it is a little better now. For awhile, I was literally going out 5 or 6 nights a week.

I guess it could be missing being truly single and doing whatever to waste time, but I personally mean more like dating around, partying and whatnot.

I still go on dates, I still go to parties when I want. I basically do everything I want whenever I want. Soooo this is not a thing for me

I know it is a lot, but please everything I wrote throughout here before posting that.

I had been happy that people understood what I meant and weren't judging...

Both, and yes, I'm poly. Or rather, I'm non-monogamus

Yeah, I figured

Or I can just be happy to be having a beer on my deck on the house we just bought. I couldn't do this when single.

Cheers!

Most poly people I know talk about it as a fundamental part of their sexuality, like being gay or straight or what have you. I'm not poly, I don't need multiple partners, so the Identity never felt like it suited me. If my primary partner is mono, then I'm mono. If they are poly then I'm poly. I don't have strong opinions about it one way or the other and I don't miss being poly when I'm mono and I don't miss being mono when I'm poly.

You're just pretty low maintenance then, I guess?

I don't think I would be capable of a non monogamous relationship.

Eh, don't think my wife would say that lol Maybe my girlfriend and boyfriend would xD

It can be an adjustment. It was for my first time too. For me the thing that made me feel more secure was knowing I always had a primary partner I could rely on. Once I felt secure though, I'm down for whatever :)
