Some dude here is saying the Wii U was a "golden age" for them creatively. The issues with the Wii U were largely down to disastrous marketing, lack of third party support, and a weird boner for Amiibos. The games themselves were pretty damn good. --- http://i.imgur.com/6eF0W.gif ... Copied to Clipboard!

It did have a handful of decent games, but the hardware it felt like a prototype for what they wanted to do with it, and they weren't quite sure yet. It also abysmal 3rd party support.

The Wii U, at the time, had the best exclusive lineup.

The Wii U was actually great in the second half of its lifespan when even Nintendo was making it pretty clear though their actions that they thought going all in on the gamepad at first had been a mistake. After a year or 2 almost anything you did on the Wii U could be done via their pro controller, which was phenomenal, with the gamepad itself mostly just being relegated to sitting by the TV and being used to fiddle with the system settings if needed.
Of course, by that point, the PR disaster that had been the gamepad-being-the-focus had already been done. Which is why the system was ushered out with haste. --- To/fro from-towards ... Copied to Clipboard!
