Gamefaqs has changed. I feel it in the water.

I dunno about dying but I don't think it's controversial to say Fandom has fucked it up. I've been on Gamefaqs for... way too long... and the site's instability is the worst, by far, it has ever been.

Message boards have been in decline for many years. Many are dead and those that linger tend to have far less activity than in their golden era. Social media killed forums.

People know this and yet they think it's some how only exclusively to GameFAQs. It's really weird.

GameFaqs would need:

• a mobile app
• social media integration
• an influencer program
• some type of partnership with game developers that would give users things like promo codes in exchange for pre-registering for titles and opting in to push notifications about said titles.

Those things would both lead to an increase in both profits, and user acquisition.

Increasing both of those things together would lead to an increase in marketing budget, and then we could get the GameFaqs brand sponsoring things like conferences, e-gaming tournaments, and sporting events.

The main issue with GameFaqs in its current state is that its one of many brands Fandom manages and there needs to be a reason to put money into the brand

and unfortunatelybecause the current audience enjoys the nostalgic format, and kind of likes to keep to themselves in their own little interest net bubbleFandom would risk losing their existing audience, to attract a new one.

Its not exactly a risk worth taking at the moment.

We need to somehow convince some pay pigs to send their simp money to a cooperative, so users can buyout gamefaqs and revitalise it.

We could become the Glorious Peoples Republic of GameFAQs

it has it's home, they just need some kind of community engagement of some sort.. some kind of slogan that recognizes the FAQS as the holy grail of a community of gamers coming together to piecemeal the best information possible

Yeah, modern guides are fragmented on websites and pain in the backside to navigate. Bring back long form guides

90% of the comments from any post on any social media platform from gamefaqs would be littered with people bitching about how awful this place is and it'll prolly be hilarious.

I meant like being able to use Facebook to sign into the platform, and having a section for video guides on YouTube & Twitch.

The difference that folks seem to downplay (which is truly astounding to me) is that GameFaqs isnt some run-of-the-mill private forum maintained by a couple of dedicated fans.

Its a million dollar website, owned by a million dollar company, that at one point was a top 100 website in terms of trafficon the entire freaking internet.

So whats astounding isnt that the site declined, its that it was allowed to decline without much of a fight.

I knew it was on the decline when the poll of the day stopped cracking over 100,000k votes. Nowadays it can barely get close to ten-thousand on average
