I don't know if I'm mad about it, but it's really bizarre considering the history FFVII has with mistranslations. They've gotten fixed over time, but for Cait Sith they just decided to be wrong on purpose.

My point is if you "sound it out" based on what those letters put together usually sound like in English, then a typical American who doesn't know Japanese would not derive "Ket Shee" from "Cait Sith". But people here are suggesting everyone should have, which is ignorant and absurd.

No, because no one is saying that you're supposed to randomly derive the correct pronunciation like you're claiming, but more that the correct pronunciation is more common knowledge now and should be used.
