The most common choices for adults are buy, rent, or be homeless. Do some people expect to live for free?

No, people expect homes to actually be affordable and not bought by the already rich to rent out for extra money

cuz people already fund other ppls lives off the sweat on their backs at work, do u think they want to do it while simply living in a home as well

Because housing is a necessity and it's not right for people to essentially endlessly exploit people's need for it for profit

We both know what you're doing, but the quote above is describing renting. Your topic seems to want to discuss landlords, but you're just being all cutesy obtuse about it.

Because they exploit a fundamental need for obscene profit with little or no effort.

That said, I don't object to landlords existing. They provide a necessary service. I've rented places a couple of times because I could not, and didn't want to, buy a home at that particular time.

They do need to be very tightly regulated though.

If you have shit credit its best you just be homeless

Renting comes at a pretty hefty premium. For the same price, you can own a ton more house than you can rent. So I can understand how people would be mad.

But there are reasons the owner would need to charge a premium for rent. For example, maintenance and taxes comes out of the owner's pocket, and many tenants probably deal more damage than their deposit covers. Not to mention that there would be no point in doing it if you weren't making some kind of margin.

There's also a thing right now where investors (future or current landlords) are buying properties out from under everyone else because they're aiming to make a profit and consequently can afford to bid higher.

Because their role in society is inherently parasitic

I am my own landlord. I am oppressively greedy and yet I am the oppressed victim all at the same time.
