I've heard some people say they work and others say they don't.

Mom used them on me as a kid. I could never tell if they worked or if the candles just produced a substance that looked like ear wax.

Tried it on my mom and didn't do shit

However, if you're actually open to seeing a doctor they can pressure wash it out. It's quick and easy, don't have to put you out

Common sense says it may not taste good, but it'll make a turd.

I actually have a large 60ml syringe that I use to pump warm water into my ear and flush it out.

It's worked for me before but doesn't seem to be helping this time.

Put a few drops of Debrox in your ears to break up the wax, then flush as normal, (Walgreens generally carry it, so does Amazon).
Also, I got a Wush about 6 months ago, it's great.

Isn't that basically just hydrogen peroxide? Cuz I think I've got some of that.

I use Debrox when my wax buildup is too high. Just a few drops in the ear, head tilted for about 15 minutes as the solution works, then use an ear syringe bulb filled with hot water over the bath tub again and again until a big chunk comes out.

If you do this, be sure to get a doctor who knows how to do it. Last time I got a doctor to do mine was probably over a decade ago and he almost fucked up my eardrum, which is why I started doing it myself with Debrox from thereafter.

Honestly mine gets so bad I just have my doctor clear them out

going to the audiologist is a bit cheaper in my experience than my general practitioner

https://www.webmd.com/cold-and-flu/ear-infection/what-is-ear-candling

Is It Safe?
At its best, ear candling is a lousy way to remove wax. At its worst, it can cause serious harm to your ear. Its also risky to hold a lit candle close to your face. The flame or the melted wax could burn you.
Candle wax may even drip into your ear canal, clog the passage, and make you lose your hearing for a while. There are also reports of punctured eardrums after the candling process.
The FDA hasnt approved ear candles for any medical use. It has sent warnings to manufacturers and stopped the import of candles.

How Can I Remove Wax Safely?
Earwax removal is a delicate process. You have to be careful. Try over-the-counter ear drops. Or just drip a few drops of water or hydrogen peroxide down your ear canal. Let it drain into the wax for a few minutes, then turn on your side to let the liquid and wax slide out.
Dont stick objects in your ear to get rid of wax buildup. This can push the gunk deeper into your ear, which makes the problem worse.
Save the candles for your birthday cake.

I'll also say I've never seen hydrogen peroxide do shit for it either, and didn't work on me

We've tried those when I was younger. I feel like they worked back then but now they don't. We tried one recently and it didn't work at all.

What works for me (my ears get completely clogged at least once every 1-2 years) is to just shoot warm water in my ear over the sink with an aspirator. I watched a few youtube videos on how to do it and works great. The last time I did it, I got some massive chunks out of my ear.

Always sounded like bullshit to me, but I'm no expert on the subject. I just have my doc use a water jet type thing and flush my ears once or twice a year.

The last time I did this I had water in my ear for a very long time and it was annoying. I'm not young anymore so rapidly shaking my head doesn't clear it actually hurts my neck

I periodically get my ears cleaned out with water irrigation at the doctors office. Im at the Dr every 4 months so I can tell when it gets to the point it needs cleaned out and just get it done there the next time Im in.

Always feel awesome after leaving there. Ill go to work and I can hear the sound of a pencil writing clearly all the way across the room.
