Happy, now married to Julie Bowen's character, is a favorite in golf and has retained his power swing even in his older age. Shooter McGavin, ever his foil, is neck and neck with him in the standings and is trying to do a takeover involving Saudi Arabia purchasing the league. It'll take a ragtag band of characters to do a last-ditch, last-minute effort to save the league, save the rankings, save his grandma's house, and maybe -- just maybe -- learn something important about each other. Golf will never be the same again. Rated R.

Disagree. I think he gets entirely too much respect/acknowledgement as a great villain that I personally feel he doesn't deserve.

I love how inconsequential she is. Like, they can't even give her a name. She's just "Julie Bowen's character." If they had said, "Now married to Virginia," I think we would have caught the inference that it was the same girl from the first movie.

I saw shooter doing a PGA commercial last weekend and I thought it was a commercial for happy Gilmore 2.

I don't know. I randomly thought about the movie the other day. I thought about rewatching it. I guess that counts for something.

It could be worse. They could be making a Tommy Boy sequel starring David Spade and David Spade.

The red letter media guys did somewhat of an expose on it, and I'm sure a lot of other individuals or groups have now too, but the short version is that Adam Sandler and his crew are very good at producing passable comedies with a massive amount of sponsorship and product placement that basically lets them all go on a vacation, shoot some half-assed comedy scenes, and then walk away with like 10 million+ each. Studios don't complain because the movies always turn a profit, so technically speaking it's win-win for everybody.

Also keep in mind that since he owns Happy Madison productions, which makes all of these movies, the overhead is probably extremely low relative to how much money can go directly to the actors.

At least it makes sense. You can be older and still golf. It isn't like if, say, Stallone wanted to put on gloves as Rocky once again. (And please tell me he's not.)

There's a 90% chance that there will be some younger cast members introduced as well. I'm not saying that it'll be good. I don't have that much faith. But at least it's somewhat logical. Ever see The Color of Money? Paul Newman starred in The Hustler in 1961 as a pool shark, then returned in 1986 to reprise his role. That worked out well. There are some things you can still do a quarter of a century later.

On one hand, this isnt the worst Adam Sandler property to make a sequel on. Also, Shooter McGavin was fun. It has a small chance of being passable.

On the other hand, I just remembered Norm McDonald and Bob Barker are dead again. That sucks.

Man.... I really enjoyed Happy Gilmore, and even as an adult I think it still holds up as a funny "turn your brain off" kind of entertaining movie.
But a sequel, and this long after w/ so many of the original actors deceased? Ugh... Sounds like it's going to suck. After a certain point, it's better to just let a piece of media go. Of course, this is probably just a cash grab, not b/c they have some amazing creative ideas they want to present.
