From quick a Googling, the highest speed I can find for neurons is 275 mph. A relatively small planet like Earth is 8,000 miles from the top to bottom. 8,000 / 275 is about 29 hours

So if a being was the size of Earth, and you shot an asteroid into their foot, it would take 29 hours for them to feel the pain and respond. Even if you shoot them in the face, their large size means it would take several minutes for the pain receptors to alert their brain.

is that for humans or for all known/measured beings with neurons?

Also, this reminds me of that time Film Theory (i think it was a Theory channel) covered Godzilla and how it'd be impossible for the portrayed Godzilla size to actually exist.

If we're talking some kind of realistic-ish planet sized monster, it'd probably be something like a large colony of interconnected organisms or something with parts that have the ability to act on their own.

Unfortunately just humans, Google doesn't seem to want to answer the question for non-humans.

this says 200 meters/second which is 447 mph

Not only that: if such a being throws a punch, it takes the same amount of time for sound to travel through the length of the arm before the fist even begins to move in response to the impulse of the arm (speed of sound through soft tissue is 1540 meters per second 2800mph). Talk about telegraphing!

So a 15 hour reaction time instead. Still abbysmal. Hell even if you triple it, and assume this being has stupidly fast reflexes and neurons, it would take 5 hours!

Like just imagine the punch time. A creature who is 8,000 miles tall would have arms that are long as fuck. If your arms are about half your height in length, this dude's arms would be 4k miles long. Imagine him winding up for a punch! At the speed of sound it would take a whopping 5 hours for his fist to move from the side of his body to full extension.

Even if he can punch at 10x the speed of sound, it would take half an hour!

a planet sized being would probably be de-centralized and therefore have multiple brains, technically.

It could, for example, be more like a Siphonophore rather than a mammal. It's functionally a single organism but also a series of distinct zooids which all spawn from a single, fertilized egg.
