Meticulously progressing through the level slowly and methodically just hits different. You don't get that with modern TR games or Uncharted series. Its unique in that sense.

Perhaps, but at the same time it does make it unique in that sense. Like, you can't argue that the older Tomb Raider games are obsolete because of Uncharted/Modern Tomb Raider when they offer a completely unique experience that the aforementioned games simply do not provide you.

I don't know how anyone without nostalgia for those games can actually enjoy them.

tomb raider 1 is awesome. idk how anyone doesnt like it. it's basically just 16 huge awesome zelda dungeons except the jumping and climbing is good.

meticulously planning the perfect jump.

the first time you see the t-rex.

the crazy egyptian temples.

glorious cutscenes.

everything sucks in 2024. 1997 was better.

well they're certainly their own experiences, and they feel unique. nowadays, tomb raider just feels like one of the many 'third person open world' games with a new skin. assassin's creed, mordor, uncharted, they all feel basically identical.

you'd have to try really hard to get something that feels like TR1, and even then it wouldn't quite hit the spot. there are nameless indie games that do the 'retro 3d' thing and they just don't feel the same, either.

I liked the puzzles in the recent Tomb Raider games but not much else. I wish there were more games with em. Can't stand uncharted though.

wrong, tomb raider is still really awesome these days although they had a bunch of bad ones after 3 until the reboot.

nothing comes close to tomb raider 1. the only thing is minecraft.

tomb raider is basically a minecraft world except most of the blocks are 2x2 size.
