I think it's time for defenders to admit that Kong is being deliberately sabotaged. That should have been obvious in the last film. But the cutesy-wootsey-baby-monke friend is a dead giveaway that they're doing all within their power to make him look bad.

He's not being sabotaged. There's no reason to think he should be on the same power level as Godzilla, to begin with. Thinking they were ever going to be equal is silly.

I don't know if this is called cope, but pretty sure in the new movie Kong will mainly deal with Uber King Louie while Godzilla and Mothra 2.0 fight the ice lizard.

They did everything they could to make him look like a chump.

Why does he have an old man beard? Why is he docile when Godzilla is in rage-beast mode? Why is he palling around with a little girl? What does any of that have to do with his power level?

Also, Godzilla got his ass kicked (repeatedly) by a moth. Even in her larva form, she beat him. So let's not pretend that it's just a matter of which monster should logically be stronger. They pick the winners, the power levels, and how they look in defeat.

Kong didn't need to win. He just needed to be respected. Without Kong, there wouldn't be a Godzilla -- just a 1954 Japanese horror film about a poisonous cloud drifting into Tokyo.

This is like Netflix Daredevil cranked up to 11 vs George Clooney Batman. Oh, and he's given the noncanonically Bat-Hammer to fight (a weapon he found, didn't create) just to show how outclassed and useless he is.

It's sabotage. Kong losing to Godzilla? I can handle that. Kong looking like a chump with or without Godzilla being around? That was bullshit.

And Adam Wingate is a hack director too. Roland Emmerich is more talented.

We should all cheer for Kong. He is a fellow mammal. Godzilla is a filthy reptile.

I missed the biggest source of obvious sabotage in the entire film.

Without the help of military assistance, Kong would have lost to the Warbat. A fucking flying snake. It's not even Quetzalcoatl. It's just a random flying snake and Kong couldn't take it without missiles on his side.

They knew. 100%.

Didn't kong literally get a giant axe that blocks Godzilla's breath? And in this new one he gets a skyscraper sized iron man arm? How is that setting him up to be a chump?

Kong fights Skar King
Godzilla fights Shimo
Mothra & Suko (Mini Kong) fight Skar King's army so the other two can focus on their battles.

No idea how accurate the spoiler is though.

Daredevil kicks Batman's ass, chokes the shit out of him like it's nothing.
Batman finds a Bat-themed hammer left by a predecessor in the Hall of the Great Bats.
Batman's entire strategy in the second fight is relying on the Bat-hammer, but he still loses.

How is that not being a chump?

Because the writers gave him a nonsensical weapon that perfectly counters his enemy's greatest power entirely so he didn't just get stomped like the first time. You're confusing "setting him up to be a chump" and more "giving it to someone who never had a chance in the first place."

It's less batman losing to daredevil and more Batman bringing kryptonite to a Superman fight.

The point of the axe is that is that Kong's only method of hanging with Godzilla is a weapon that was gifted to him. It's an an extension of himself, like a super power, nor did he learn from his first loss and go fashion himself an axe. The fact that Kong needed outside interference to beat a nameless flying snake is further proof of sabotage. Not only can Kong not defeat the champion of kaiju, he can't defeat an unranked fighter without aid.

Adam Wingate paid homage to Kong leaping the Twin Towers in the 1976 movie and he paid homage to the tree being shoved in Godzilla's mouth in King Kong vs Godzilla. That doesn't mean that he's on Kong's side or do his best to be evenhanded. He had marching orders to make Kong look bad and he carried them out.

I still have no idea why the unwanted human commentary said that the second round goes to Kong in Godzilla vs Kong. There were two Godzilla vs Kong fights in that movie, one at sea and one in the city, and Godzilla won both of them.

Heck, even in the really old comedic 1962 Godzilla vs Kong fight, Kong got electric powers + revival out of nowhere just to be able to keep up with Godzilla.

The most recent trailer seems to confirm the spoilers are correct.

Kong should beat Godzilla.
Godzilla is lumbering and slow and has baby arms. Kong is insanely strong, agile and opposable thumbs.

Godzilla isn't that slow and has nasty claws on his arms. He also has greater durability than Kong and has Atomic Breath, something which Kong barely has an answer for.

Godzilla in Godzilla x Kong also is significantly faster and has more developed arms after he gets his upgrade Kong apparently lost his axe in the new movie and got a gauntlet in exchange... Seems like the gap between Godzilla and Kong continues to widen.

Also, if the Spoilers for Godzilla vs Kong are correct, Godzilla and Kong fight again and Kong losses again...yeah. Mothra breaks it up though before the team up.

i saw the trailer for this flick when i went to see Dune Part II. i swear it looked silly as fuck, specially with the whole time travel thing... lol

I dunno, who wins is irrelevant. Kong is just cooler.
