Getting tooth surgery done without anesthetic would be total agony. With the anesthetic its more uncomfortable and vaguely unpleasant than anything. I for one am exceedingly grateful we live in a time with cheap and effective anesthetic because the vast majority of humans did not have access to it and it was indeed a nightmare for them.
