It admittedly has a couple jokes that still make me chuckle (mostly from Iggy and Spike), but overall I will never accept it as having 'so-bad-it's-good' camp value. Another funny anecdote was when Dennis Hopper's then-8-year-old son asked him why he did the SMB movie. "To buy you shoes," Hopper replied. It definitely has its flaws, but to this day I still find it to be exciting and comedic. If anything, I kind of feel John Leguizamo (who played Luigi) shined a little more in it than Hoskins. Then again, I never really understood the whole concept of 'so bad it's funny'. I've heard about the production mess and lousy incompetent directors before. Don't blame him. Fortunately Mortal Kombat came and blew us away with how fun it was. Martial arts stuff was very popular in the 80s and 90s with stuff like Karate Kid, TMNT, Street Fighter, and Power Rangers so it was a perfect time to make the MK film. Mario Bros could have, should have been better. With multiple games and 3 cartoons it had no excuse to turn out as awful and confusing as it did.
