I want to go to somewhere ideally I wouldn't need a passport but it's not off the table completely, I know Mexico is cheap af to stay at. Alternatively Virgin Islands, Bahamas, Hawaii etc and looking to stay for 3 or 4 days. I started poking around Travelocity and it's kind of overwhelming, I've never done a trip like this before so any help would be appreciated, looking to travel with one other person and keep it under $2k

Costco does trip packages that are pretty simple to customize and you usually get rewards back like a gift card. If you are a Costco member that is. I used it for our honeymoon to Hawaii (2 islands) and it all went very smoothly.

Depends on where you are located. West Coast, go to Hawaii, East go to Bahamas. If the 2K includes flights, it can be very difficult unless you are very flexible with dates. Ie September would be cheap for Bahamas but its hurricane season.

Get a passport, it will open a lot of possibilities.

3-4 days is not a lot. you're gonna be spending a lot on flights to fly there and back.

maybe your'e better off going to hawaii with that amount of time. really no need to book anything except flight tickets, and when you get there go to booking.com or airbnb and look for the cheapest best reviewed accommodation near the city center. but the best part of hawaii is renting a car and just exploring the whole island and stopping wherever and whenever you want.

i went to hawaii (maui and oahu island on 2 separate occasions, where I had a full 4-5 days). hawaii accommodations tends to be expensive. I rented a car from Turo, a small compact suv. and i basically car camped in the back of the car and drove around the island exploring I save by not paying for hotel, took a shower by the public shower by the beach, had to do it early or late and quickly.

i love traveling on a budget and as cheaply as possible.

But dont book a trip until you have the passport in hand. This is about the time turnaround on getting one gets longer since people are just now thinking about needing them for summer trips. It generally can take 2 months to get one, but it can take longer.

I've chosen to go to Merida, Yucatan it seems like there's tons to do and cheap af. It's also being called the safest city in Mexico so that's a huge selling point

You need a passport for Mexico (assuming you're American).

Looking to start traveling myself TC.planning on going to Chicago(never been) by train from
Michigan sometime this year, starting off small and have always wanted to travel by train somewhere..one reason the cost, of course, but you can see more on a train than a top-down view from a plane

Yeah I know, decided it's worth getting one. I'd like to see Mexico before Trump wins the election and it's still a viable option
