do people think there are no Mexican immigrants that started up food joints outside of the southwest states or something? Their influence is everywhere. Im in Ohio and have eaten Mexican food thats on par with restaurants Ive been at in Texas and Cali.

Ill get a random craving for Chipotle every now and the and everytime I order it Im severely disappointed. Everytime.

Mainstream white America has been slowly inching towards liking spicy, flavorful Mexican food. In the 50s many if not most people outside of the southwest had never even eaten a taco. By the 80s, Taco Bell, nachos, and salsa had become popular everywhere. And in the 2010s, Chipotle became ubiquitous throughout the USA.

If you go to rural or suburban places in most of the US, sure, you can find authentic places but it's very spotty. A lot of it them are actually owned by white people who don't know Mexican food and just want to serve what's familiar to them. A lot of them are owned by immigrants and have authentic ingredients, but they turn down the flavor and spice to make it more palatable to locals. If that's what you're used to, I'm sure Chipotle seems very flavorful and spicy.

And I wouldn't say Chipotle is bad, either. It's above average for fast food, that's for sure. They use good ingredients and you can always put on extra salsa or something.

My only complaint is WAY too much salt

Yeah I dont consider Chipotle to be authentic Mexican food, their salsa tastes like shit too

Exaggerated take. I'm from SoCal so there's no shortage of good burritos. Hell I'm no stranger to Mexico food tourism. Living in Korea has forced me to become exceptionally good at making my own Mexican food from scratch. So I feel very qualified when I say Chipotle is not bland. It is very mid yes, I haven't eaten there in years as I don't feel the need to pay such high prices for very meh food. But at the end of it all, I would not call their stuff bland. Unless of course you're intentionally making your order bland

The beans taste like dirty water

Chipotle has a pretty different taste than most other mexican food restaurants I've tried, but I wouldn't necessarily say it's bland.

Everything tastes like it's doused in cilantro and I have that thing where cilantro tastes like soap. Idk what it tastes like to normals, but it has a very strong flavor in there for me that's not appetizing

The only thing I eat from there are the quesadillas. Those are pretty banging.
