Chicken/egg. Does being rich make people shitty, or do shitty people tend to become rich because theyre the type of psychopath who will step on and outright backstab others to climb the ladder?

I cant speak for anyone else but if I suddenly had a billion dollars drop into my account I wouldnt suddenly become a transphobic Holocaust denier because power corrupts or whatever. Core values dont work that way.

I don't think it's money that corrupts people. It's power and it's people who have power who tend to be rich

Its relative and depends on what you think is shitty. If I were rich Id have a lot more stuff and I already somewhat have issues with what I have. Maybe this is overdoing it but for example I have tried do week myself off of coffee because of the environmental impact and slavery issues, but I failed and feel bad about that. I act as if I care so much about the world but at the same time Im here posting on some slavery device and have a shitload of consoles. I feel bad about all of that but still know if I got rich the first thing Id do is get a new PC and better TV despite the old ones still working. It might seem ridiculous to compare this to evil but its not a nice thing to willingly keep contributing to shit that is actively making society worse.

That's not a rich people problem inherently. We all contribute to that. Rich people just Moreso.

Sometimes it's hard to help. Like I'm part of LGBT but I've ate chic fil-a because that's where everyone else wanted to go.

Being rich just amplifies you.

Those core values work because people restrain their ugly side. "I want to punch him in the face" doesn't become reality because of that restraint. A billion dollar would weaken that restraint greatly since you could now do whatever you want with impunity.

Ive always felt that the majority of the eat the rich! crowd here would act like those rich people they hate so much if they had that kind of money. But in fairness, I never know who here is genuine or just a shitposter at this point lmao

Even if I could afford it, that would take effort, phone calls, probably physical meetings. Not at all worth it.

That being said, I would absolutely buy gamefaqs just for petty trolling.

I know I'd have a VERY good chance at making a ton of money if I started grifting in the MAGA movement and/or the evangelical one... it's just that I couldn't live with myself if I did that.

And I know some people would say, "oh but you could make your riches and then donate to democratic politicians, LGBT groups, etc." but the more you repeat that far right shit, the more you start to believe it, and that part of me would be far gone by the time I became wealthy. I've seen what I would become and it's basically Milo Yiannopoulos.

And even if that wouldn't happen and I would be able to keep a part of myself uncorrupted while playing the part, I'd have to burn so many bridges to get to that point that any money I'd give to help people would basically be to try to repair the damage that I'd done on the way to making all that money.
