Ohhhh OK the formation cap is 5.

That makes the Honors economy situation far less daunting.

I fear for when I unlock 5 unit formations, because I don't know that I have enough tanky characters to fill the front. Literally all of my units are 1 in front, 3 in back. But I'm still only half way to rank B, so there's still plenty of time for new tanks to join.

As characters level, more will have reasons for wanting to be in the front, and there will also be more equipment that makes a character want to do the same thing. Stuff like buffing on being hit, Counterattacks, etc. also can't ignore how many class types can be dodge tanks.

...If you don't wanna be a dumbo like me, don't forget to go pickup the Runic Sword from the very first town in the game once you have money.

I can't tell if it's just me not being thorough enough, or if overworld items (like divine shards) have a small chance of respawning every now and then. Every so often I just find something new while backtracking, and some have been in spots I'm pretty sure I would've noticed before. But it's also not a common thing, so I dunno.

stationing a guard autocollects things, so you probably just went through somewhere that you've been to before but haven't fixed the town yet.

I'm not talking about materials, unless you're saying guards will also occasionally collect re-spawning divine shards (and I just haven't noticed my count go up automatically).

I misread that. I don't know but I don't think they respawn.

Hasted Call II is a game changer.

Put it on a batch of Promoted Cav Leaders and you feel like your game is busted.

I THINK there are 4 Treasure maps per area, but that's just the most I've found.

Ochlys was nuts early game but Feathersword really seems to be falling behind. I guess this class doesn't come into it's own until you hit level 25 and get Discharge (discard all your buffs and charge an attack accordingly) and build a team around that.

There's 5 maps per area, and once you find them all, a 6th map for each area will unlock in the Albion mine.

Does anyone know if there is a physical ranged attack condition or combination I can use?

If you have an exact scenario to describe that could help, context matters so much with all these gambits.

Edit: ah gotcha. Yeah always pay attention to the trigger effects of passive skills because sometimes there no need to set a particular Gambit because that aspect of it is automated.

Also not directly related, but "lowest HP" for healers is a big fucking trap, set that shit to HP%.

I've been setting opening attacks to lowest HP and follow up attacks to lowest %, trying to get more consistent kills that restock AP.

some portion of this is idle time, but playtime is at 50 hours LOL

a lot more of that is unnecessary fiddling with unit composition and tactics. its just not that big of a deal for some units to lose some fights

I'm somewhere between 40 to 50 hours, 10 of that was certainly spent completely stripping and redoing my whole army.

It's a similar dopamine for me to spending 1 to 2 hours in the castle before the map starts in FE Geneology.

I was very pleased at well all my units handled the big desert battle. It all went very smoothly, minus a thief that stole from me AFTER TURNING GREEN AND BECOMING AN ALLY AND THEN I WAS POWERLESS TO GET MY GOLD BACK >:O

I recently gave Berenice a Dancer's Anklet, and I've very pleased with how much damage she can rack up while fueling herself for more devastation (she also has a Lapis Pendant to help get her started).

I've actually been annoyed how much exploration in Drakengard is being blocked by story battles. Lemme run free and try to farm honor and materials and stock up on divine shards!

Well that's not an issue in Albion, just finished and was able to do over half the landmass without getting into a single non-overworld battle.

Any cool weapons / gear to pick up there? I finished Draken and Elves and am either gonna go back to snow land or check out Albion.

Without fighting, you will only be able to access the secret shop, and it's mostly full of super strong stat stick weapons (raw buffs and numbers, no attached abilities). He also has 1 each of the +2 PP and AP accessories. Gonna cost a looooot of money though.

Got to rank 2 in the colosseum without sandstorm but now I feel like the cheese may be necessary lol.

I beat all of the colosseum without sandstorm!

But I also had my level 34 wolf so that might have contributed to that.

hell if Im gonna figure out which places sell blindness amulets, Ill come back when Ive stumbled into them

Once I got to rank A, the Shaman has had a permanent spot on my main team.

I like this game but I have no real idea how any of the mechanics work and just move my guys around until I go from taking 100 damage to taking 0 and win every fight in a rout

When I see drastic differences between minor formation changes in the same fight, I try and take the enemies Tactics into consideration for reference, try and learn what does and doesn't work from their failure.

....And then I hit a level multiple of 5 and my brain makes me reconsider everything else again lol.

I feel pretty good about my understanding of tactics, good ways to condition my skills, and picking good weapons and accessories. I don't spend much time thinking about who I shove together into a unit, but my fine tuning once they're in their units has been working out pretty well.

I've got 8 units with 4 members, and I'm at a point where I'm wondering if I want to keep building out the last two units, or horde my Honors for future upgrades of the 8 I have.

The final secret Colosseum fight seemed nuts until I relaized I could just go 1 on 1 with a Rogue lol.

OK well I reached A Rank and have the ability to get the ultimate sword now....but I don't even know where to start with this guy.

Getting close to end of game now I believe. Halfway through Albion and got Rank S.

One thing I wish is that weapons had more unique abilities. There's a few but they either suck or are very niche.

Specifically for swords, I was hoping I'd be able to find some cool move, but nah. Hopefully I'll find something soon but I'm not holding my breath.

Also, came across by far my least favorite mission last night.

In Albion, there's a side quest where there's two barricaded doors that block the way to each post and you gotta capture both posts. I don't believe any items or valor skills take down these doors but you CAN use the battering rams they provide. Problem is is that each battering ram is on the other side of each door so you have to smash your face against the door 8 times to get past. You can probably just fly around with flying units, but my flying unit was stuck defending home base. I probably could have made it work if I swapped my teams and units around but I'm stubborn so I just bashed my face against the door 8 times to eventually break through. Your squad goes into WAIT each time too you smash the door.

I've found a few, but swords do seem to have less unique skills attached to them than all the other weapon types, at least at the point of the game I am. Could be they're just more back loaded? Lances and axes and bows have tons and tons of weapons with skills on them, and of course almost every staff.

Oh I definitely had options, I know that. I was just being stubborn lol

Sainted Knights really seem invaluable.

Randomly slapped a Dancer's Bracelet on Rosalinde, and boy did it help make Clive and Chloe stronger. Stuck one on Miriam too, and turned Fran into more of a nuke as well. I gotta start keeping an eye on which characters can generate PP and make sure I put that to good use.

On a similar note, Yahna using Magick Conferal on Rolf's Eagle Eye'd Dual Shot does sooo much.

I've spent at least a dozen hours of my playtime doing full unit resets and reformations, and the conclusion I've come to is that there are so many varying factors and meetups that literally nobody will ever agree on what's best. I don't think it's even possible for 2 people to end up at the same answer unless they're literally copying one another.

It makes a lot more sense now why the game uses fixed growths instead of random. Imaging random growths in this system sounds like absolute hell.

Having just gotten there now, the Coliseum town itself sells two blindness immunity amulets.

Also, after the battle there, how dare they just steal one of my unit leaders like that. ;_;

In other news, I hit B rank! Time to see what I want to do with promotions... I broke down and built a 9th unit because it was too painful sitting there with 5 unused characters, but luckily I still have over 200 honors to play with for promotions right away.

Those yellow missions are an extremely easy way to grind honors BTW. Especially the one right near the collesseum. Leave one defender and send one flyer at the boss and you can get 20+ honors in under a real time minute.

absolutely true. the later one in the elf area can be rushed in the late 20s in about the same time too (anecdotally since that's how i was rushing to get that one squad to level 30 for colosseum in no time)

I made it to Rank 18 on my first foray into the Colosseum, but none of my 9 units could withstand that archer/cavalry assault. I don't want to fuss with moving people around to get through it yet. I think it's a pretty good start to get into the lower 20s with my unoptimized 14-16s.

...it would be wrong to sit and grind through the auxiliary battles for hours to get the +2 AP/PP accessories... Yes, wrong...
