How do make a series of 3 back to back bangers and then fall off so bad?

It would be like if MGS2 was bad.

Different teams.

Blood Omen 2 was made by a different team than Soul Reaver & Defiance team.

Personally, I thought they went downhill after SR1

i thought the only lok games that are good are the ones with raziel on it. the worst part about defiance is using the ugly dude, hes boring as hell and i just cant wait to get to the raziel parts. his ugly ass should be skippable.

I love the original, it is strange, but awesome imo. The raziel ones I played were good too, but I really miss the original.

Blood Omen 2 is tied with Soul Reaver for me as my favourite Kain game.

Although the boss that kills himself if you stand still is an odd touch, haha.

Blood Omen 2 was clunky but playable. I do like it, all the gory ass stealth kills and abilities.

Defiance had jank ass GoW wannabe combat that I hated.

But mgs2 was bad....

It pretty much killed the franchise because it was totally off from every other game in the series in story, tone and gameplay

Blood Omen 2 was my first and only Legacy of Kain game. Id love to play the rest some day.

The Raziel games are just a spinoff of the ugly dude's games though. It's the ugly dude's series, Raziel just lives in it.

I mean this is true but Raziel pretty much became the new main character because of the success of Soul Reaver.

Despite the title it's pretty hard to see it solely as Kain's series

I liked it as a vampire game, not so much as an LOK game... it's definitely the weakest of the bunch, especially in story.

That's why I liked Defiance so much, it was the best of both characters.

I'd argue Soul Reaver holds up

it's pretty much Dark Souls on the PS1.

I stopped after soul reaver 2. Defiance and Bo 2 just didn't look fun to play when I could just Google the eargasmic voice acting and not suffer through the very bad gameplay.

To be honest the first game Blood Omen is the only one I truly liked playing. While flawed, I liked the slight Zelda/castlevania style dungeon crawling and exploring. Gaining typical vampire powers like wolf form and mist and turning to bat to fast travel... these were some fun ideas that if polished would yield an even better game.

As much as I love raziel and the elder God... soul reaver just had too many push-pull block puzzles which are one of the worst gameplay puzzle designs, and the game looked ugly as sin even if it's for story reasons. Soul reaver 2 looked better not just because it was on ps2, and it being drastically shorter could be seen as a benefit for some. But I would only keep playing to get to the next cutscene, I'm really only playing for the stellar voice acting

The original biggest issue is the audio. It sounds good, but you could always hear just a bit of static when there was VA. Wondering it was one of the first Sony games to use VA I think it turned out ok. It gets a pass
