Im sure knowing this information put a little pep in Bidens step last night during the SOTU.

https://www.cnn.com/2024/03/08/economy/february-jobs-report-final/index.html

The US labor market is doing just swell.
The economy added 275,000 jobs in February, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Friday, registering a stronger-than-expected gain that shows the foundation for economic growth remains quite sturdy.

The economy remains strong, held up by a robust labor market, wrote Christopher Rupkey, chief economist with FwdBonds, in a note Friday. The labor market remains rock solid.

Economists had expected a net gain of 200,000 jobs in February and for the unemployment rate to be unchanged at 3.7%, according to FactSet estimates.
The unemployment rate climbed higher, to 3.9%, in February.

February marked the 38th consecutive month of job growth (the fifth-longest period of employment expansion on record), and the 25th consecutive month that the nations jobless rate has been below 4%, the longest stretch in more than 50 years, BLS data shows.

What kinds of jobs were added? I find it so fucking bizarre that while the rest of the world is slipping into recession, the US is just kinda...not at this point. I have no explanation for this.

How come all these jobs were added yet the unemployment rate still rose? Sounds like more people are getting laid off than hired.

Every single President always gloats about creating jobs but I never quite understand what exactly are these jobs, like who is getting them, where are they, how are they quantifying them, and how did the President go about making it happen?

I feel like the market just does its normal ebbing and flowing on its own accord and whenever it does well for a while whoever the sitting President takes credit for it
