My older brother would get home shortly after, and then my dad would be getting off work and also arriving home. It was an experience for a lot of us in north america/the united states since we never truly had something on TV like saint seiya was for south america that got us to pop off about anime way earlier. Even putting aside his influence on Anime, Toriyama influenced a lot of what we have artistically for JRPGs too, working as an artist for Dragon Quest from start to current times, and Crono Trigger which is one of the big classics. I remember when I was growing up, I tried to draw Goku a lot as a kid, and Piccolo, and was generally good enough at it. But it always felt like I was missing something. superman_2000 03/08/24 1:00:55 PM #293:	Even though I think Dragon Ball is laughably overrated, I respect and admire Toriyama for his one-of-a-kind art style and pioneering some of the coolest tropes in anime (characters charging their bodies like batteries, big flashy energy blasts, super fast and destructive fights, etc.). Dude was undoubtably a trend-setter whose influence can be felt in so many other franchises, from Sonic the Hedgehog to Tekken. I'd say he earned his spot as a legend. --- I don't hold grudges.
