Looks like it could be pretty fun

Glad it's binge release so in case it sucks I can get it over with quickly.

Seems dumb to drop a big budget (?) show like this all at once.

I get that, but the tone of a prestige tv show is different from that of a 100 hour rpg

Seems like a mishmash of several different FO games and the timeline doesn't line up, but that's fine since it's a TV show. They got the tone down right. I'm still hesitant about it, but less so than I was before.

I was expecting shit, so this definitely surpasses my expectations. I'll give it a watch.

Wait is there actually an overarching story line in FO?

I thought they were all pretty stand-alone in terms of lore and events and just shared key themes

The games are both separate and not. There is a progressing timeline of events. From what I can tell, Shady Sands and Los Angeles look like they're from FO 1's setting while there's also The Prydwen (or a similar airship) from Fallout 4, which takes place over a hundred years later. It doesn't really matter though.

My biggest worry is more Fallout 1/2 erasure since this is Bethesda Fallout though and though.

I do like how they're showing the Vault Dweller as in over their head. Like in Fallout 3 you step out of the Vault and quickly became an unstoppable deity in the Wasteland. It's more realistic for the Dweller to be totally out of their element.

Will the first episode feature the looting of a 200+ year old abandoned grocery store for food?

I hope there's at least one gag about picking up literally fucking everything and becoming overencumbered

I'm very intrigued, and I hope this delivers. Unlike, say, the Avatar adaptation, I'm going into this with zero expectations, other than my longstanding belief that Bethesda-brand Fallout's story only ever really shines in side quests (aka disjointed episodic bursts), and thus would probably make a good template for a picaresque TV series.

Walton Goggins is probably gonna carry the show. Love that they're clearly giving him a 'chem fiend' angle in this new trailer. Visuals don't usually impress me nowadays, but this is so 1:1 that's its impossible not be impressed by it.

Looks like it may be worth the watch. I like the Amazon way of binge dropping the first season then if it works they drop 3 then weekly in the next seasons. Seems to keep people coming back for the shows that work.

Looks awesome. I'm excited.

Writers / Director: "Thanks for collaborating with us on this project, Mr. Howard! These games were really cool to play and analyze!"
Todd: "Hey, no problem! I just wanna make sure the Fallout universe is portrayed as accurately and faithfully as possible."

Im really excited. This trailer looked good. Im glad they arent just making the BOS the villains just because they needed one. It seems like the show is going to nail the atmosphere and style of the games.

That being said, making a good story out of that is something else. I have some hope.

My only thing about is why are they dropping it all at once? Seems contrary to the popular belief for most streamers to go week to week. Maybe because its Amazon and they arent worried about wringing every cent from a subscriber? (They generally are but apparently not about Prime Video)

The only bad thing is Walton Goggins, and it's an irrational opinion thing. I know people love him. It's just one of those things where you look at someone and know you don't like them. Like they have a punchable face. That's how I feel about him. That said though, his acting as I've seen in other shows of his, will probably perfectly match the tone of this show and he may be amazing in it.

I hope talking deathclaws make an appearance. Idr if they got killed off cannnnonically

For every show I have watched from Amazon (The Boys, Invincible, Reacher) they dropped the first season all at once then the next season released 3 initial episodes with the remainder weekly. Its not always the case but I only remember Gen V dropping as weekly on the first season but thats a The Boys spinoff so it followed the other format.

Ah yes the gigantic military of the BoS which in no way was pretty much dying off in the West the last we heard of them. And they have their own Prydwen somehow.

I hope so because that's the only way it could make sense to me going by the time frame.
I also don't like how the showrunner framed Vaults in some interviews, like he lacked a fundamental understanding of what they actually were. He put it as some weird haves vs have not situation.

I'm gonna give them the benefit of the doubt and cope that they are hiding the true nature of vaults from people who have no idea what Fallout is for the surprise factor.

Nah. Based on the show being confirmed canon and this latest trailer, it's finally time to call a spade a spade: Bethesda is taking big steps to retcon the old games / West Coast storyline out of canon, either subtly or overtly. I'm surprised they held out this long, tbh.

Such a shame. Todd has no idea what Fallout is or should be and it's a shame he can no longer be happy respecting what came before as "their thing" and the East Coast being "his thing" like he's said before.

I mean, yeah, it was clear even before Fallout 4 released that New Vegas was going to be the last of the 'original' Fallout universe. Bethesda is bent on maintaining the more generic post-apocalypse vibe of the universe, where it feels the bombs fell no more than a year ago no matter how many centuries pass; it's more marketable and easier to keep producing survival sandbox games in loosely-connected settings, and the old style of games where civilization actually grows and develops beyond the apocalypse is wholly incompatible with that.

But, to reiterate, Bethesda-brand Fallout has a decent chance of working perfectly well in a tv series format. Fallout-style dark humor paired with the commitment to capturing 4's aesthetic in particular (which I maintain is leagues better than 3's at the very least, especially in this context) could draw in a lot of people who wouldn't be otherwise interested in yet another post-apocalypse story.

Having the TV series take place in California is just salt in the wounds of older fans at this point. As it's now crystal clear that the old games are essentially retconned away.

But hey that doesn't have to be a bad thing, I just hope the show is good.

I was expecting to be annoyed with the trailer but I was immediately interested after seeing Goggins :)

She's a mess at the end of the trailer though
