HIV and AIDS are two different things. Even if they wanted to inquire into his HIV status (which is none of their business unless they're asking for a kidney), this blatant level of ignorance must be called out. Reinforcing stigmas and stereotypes causes more HIV spread and more death.

well, when you don't tell people anything, then they come to their own conclusions. the best way to fix this is called communicating. but of course there's probably some personal reason you don't want to communicate, and reasons they can't communicate. but that's really all it is. fear of honesty, fear of trust.

ehh tbh i dont care how knowledgeable they are about things like HIV that have no presence in their (boomer) lives (they're 70+, had me in their 40s)
what bothers me is the total lack of respect for my privacy
that when my back was (apparently) turned, my mother was going through my cabinets (i keep my scripts behind my coffee cups so that i remember to take them in the morning [my mother doesn't drink coffee and had no reason to get into my cabinets btw, she was just being nosy as usual])

lol ive talked to my mom three times since the convo w/ my dad and shes not said a thing
i guess shes embarrassed or something b/c she always has a comment to make about everything

my mom went through my cabinets b/c she's nosy as shit, found a prescription that is also used to treat HIV positive patients, made her own assumptions, and didn't say anything

the fact that she didnt say anything about this to me personally must have taken an enormous amount of restraint for her

PrEP is not a treatment for HIV. Taking PrEP when you have HIV can actually make the virus harder to treat.
