Just watched episodes 4 and 5, I was kinda blown away by a few scenes, nothing about this show has really captured Halo before now, they did a pretty big flip and this seems like it's quality now. If you can manage to trudge through Season 1, the 2nd has been a pretty good payoff so far.

Has a cliffhanger ending.

Also, part of the charm of the original was the mix of a non-regen and a regen health bar.

Maybe if you said 2+3 combined, since those two make an incredible finish.

2 alone is... incomplete.

And also just leaned into what would become the "generic full regen health" thing that everyone saw fit to copy from Halo, including all the call of doodoos and metal of dishonors and all that.

What the hell are you talking about, the 2nd season is currently airing weekly and only 5 episodes are out. There is no season 3.

I will very much believe it is better than the first given the context of my title blindness. (edit: I have seen many reviews of the first series, and how much it messed up various things in their and my non-viewing agreeing opinions).

The whole Master Chief not wearing his helmet for half the show has put me off from giving it a fair shake. Might be a dumb reason but I'm a dumb gamer.

Episode 4 was really good--I think they need to lean into the action more and stop talking so much

Pretty much this, episode 4 of season 2 was basically just action start to finish, lots of covenant, cool tech, warthogs, scorpion tanks, Needlers, and it was visually awesome. They packed a ton of Halo into one episode, but you kinda wonder why they waited so long. If you are looking for accurate story lore, you'll probably be disappointed. What they are managing now with the action feels on point now.

I guess as long as it has the weapons and vehicles it'll still feel familiar to the games, but yeah I was hoping you were gonna tell me season 1 was pre Fall of Reach stuff and season 2 was Halo CE's story, which I always thought was the strongest plotline in the series

Hell no. Its been all fan fiction with scenes like Chief going to dinner with some random family and they ask him for his KD Ratio. The Fall of Reach finally started and the show runners first decide to ship all the MJOLNIR armor off planet, I mean who would want to see Spartans fight at full power in the biggest battle of the war, am I right?? Then the next episode they immediately have Chief leave Reach and go on some random side quest on a different planet. I mean who wants to see Master Chief participate in the Battle of Reach right????

Its so dumb, just a complete waste of the Halo IP

Technically season 1 is pre fall of reach, but it's a completely orignal story, kinda. Season 2 seems to be fall of reach, but I'm sure they're bastardizing that story as well.
