The general consensus in this topic so far seems to be:

• dont have kids
• dont smoke
• don't be fat
• dont be an asshole

For me it was:

• Has a cute face
• Is at least a little nerdy (my gf is a mega nerd and I love her)
• Has a good sense of humor
• Not too skinny (I like women with some meat on their bones)
• Not high maintenance

That was mainly what I checked for before trying to set up a first date. I have a kid myself, so I didn't care if they had kids. Hell, at first I assumed that most of my matches would be women with kids, since I already had one of my own. But almost all of my matches were women without kids. I'm glad it's not as much of a hangup for women as it is for guys lol.

• Must be willing to equitably split expenses and chores.
• Must be reasonably intelligent

• Prefer someone that makes a similar amount of money as I do. More would be great, a little less would be fine. Not a total deal breaker, though, as long as she isn't a deadbeat.
• Prefer someone that's into the same or similar hobbies. It's fine if we aren't, though, as long as she has her own and is open minded. Could be cool to try each other's interests.
• Prefer a homebody like myself, but I wouldn't mind going out and trying new things or going on vacations sometimes.

I think that's really it for me. That's more than I thought there would be when I first came into this topic.

I will say I couldn't care less if she already has kids, and I'm ok with some fat. It can get to be too much, though, but I probably like bigger women more than the general population.

Apart from being attractive (no point in trying to pin that down to a list of traits; I'm either attracted to someone, or not), I'd say a long-term partner's most desirable quality would be pragmatism and the ability to learn and adapt, especially when things get tough. Having dreams / faith / a spiritual side is both great and desired (I have all those myself, after all), but not at the expense of being present in the moment and dealing with things rationally; I need to feel like my soulmate would deal more directly with problems and not make excuses, lie, or get easily suckered by other people's lies. My family has put up with too much grief over the years due to inflexible, irrational relatives who do everything in their power to avoid the reality / responsibility of any given situation.

Because honestly, if that one hurdle gets met, I feel like everything else would fall more or less into place.

I'm actually pretty picky, but I think that's because my girlfriend has set such a high standard I can't imagine being with anyone else. If we weren't to work out then the bare minimum I expect would probably look something like this going forward:

No kids (but wants kids eventually)
Monogamous
Self-sufficient
Not religious/overly spiritual
Relatively close in age (= or +/- 3 years)
No drugs or smoking
Left leaning
Active lifestyle that matches mine (don't have to be as in good of shape as me but still relatively well figured)
Similar values for family, finance, etc.
