Berseria was my first Tales game, and I liked the combat better in that one. I liked the characters more as well. I just didn't like Arise too much.

I wanted to like it, but the bloated HP on bosses, bland party members, and plot that goes from intriguing to boring to a total trainwreck kind of pushed me away.

In Xenogears I'd argue that it may have been for the better. But yes, Arise falls the fuck off in the second half, particularly the last 1/3. The unstaggerable damage sponge bosses kinda ruined the game for me.

Felt like the combat was too flashy, way too much happening on screen, I lose sense of everything.

Its now free on gamepass and I downloaded it. Haven't played a tales game since vesperia but I'm interested to see the new combat system at least. I hope its...decent.
