Still waiting for a proper sequel to Lufia II, preferably something with absolute big bad. That DS remake doesn't count.

It's a fantastic game, but it kind of gets lost in the sea of incredible SNES/SFC JRPG's.

I feel like Golden Sun at least had a Lufia 2 kinda feel. Or the other way around, since I played GS first.

I should've used 'above/below average' instead of 'great/awful' :)

The zelda-like puzzles set it apart from other jrpgs of its era for me. Do you know any other snes jrpgs with puzzles? I'd be interested to check them out.

Never played but it looks great from the pictures (I just want to vote)
Much better than Lufia & the Fortress of Doom, the first game in the series also for snes.

Have you played Lufia: The Legend Returns? For a Game Boy Color game it is not that bad.

Unfortunately, that was the last decent game in the series as the Lufia games for Game Boy Advance and DS were both horrible.

Agreed. It's baffling that they haven't released this gem for modern system yet. C'mon Nintendo.

A roguelike? I'm bookmarking the Steam link to that Enchanted Cave 2. Gonna check it out later.

*sigh* I only voted average because I liked the first one better though it would be hell to play now with the mazes and random encounters and very Dragon Quest NES systems. But Lufia 2 had some dumb annoying ass puzzles and a really stupid story at times.

The gameplay was better in 2 but I just remember getting annoyed. 2 is clearly the better game in almost every way, but 1 will always hold a more special in my heart.

Also wasn't the GBC game Lufia 3? I only know a little about that. Not enough to post intelligently but there were rows many party members. And then there was that GBA game that was basically just a spin off.

Also 10/10. Played/beat it so many times ok both cart and emulator

have beaten the AC twice on the cart which I consider a great accomplishment. First time I did it the cheat way because I didnt want to risk it but I did beat it the legit way the second run through.

Ruins of Lore? What did ya'll think of that game? It was for the GBA didn't seem like anything special 1 and 2 were better. Probably 3 too because I think the GBC one happened after the events of Lufia 1.

Great for its time . Killer soundtrack and I sunk tons of gametime into the Ancient cave.

Only average nowadays, imo. The story is pretty generic, the difficulty is rather easy (especially if you ancient cave ASAP). I think the addition of capsule monsters was a good concept to tweak/customize the party a bit, but only 2 were worth a damn between their usefulness and frequency of fleeing. The handful of very bugged maps are a sad reminder of rushed production.
