I cry at some songs. Not like that.

It isn't even the lyrics or the significance of the song. Some chord progressions just get me and make me tear up.

What's with the weird level of venom towards this girl for crying at a song? People have always been moved by music, good or bad, that isn't about them specifically. People charge music with their own emotions.

I think it's because most people can see the ridiculousness of setting up her camera to record this performance

The person who wrote that tweet sounds like a miserable person. Nobody thinks the songs are written about them, they just can relate to it or it could be tied to a personal experience.

Dunno about this case specifically but people really do have reactions like that sometimes. People screamed so hard at Elvis and Beatles concerts they passed out.

Reacting emotionally to a song which has special significance to you is a good thing, and wanting to be in the company of other swifties and Taytay herself is also a mostly good thing.

Filming yourself while being performatively emotional (aka, hamming it up only because the camera is rolling), and then deciding to upload it, makes me a salty old man

She's got great friends.

I understand that but it is almost entirely the performative nature of this that is getting her roasted

there seems to be a trend of people saying popular performer x "SAVED THEIR LIFE"

I am not sure how to feel about that.
Like I know people in real life who said this about some band they are absolutely fanatical about and make it part of their personality.

Yeah by all means possible, cry to a song. That's sensitive.

Don't freaking film it and subject us all to it. That's deranged.

It's cringe but it's nothing something 'unacceptable' either. They're not hurting anyone. I'm an old man who doesn't overly get this streaming stuff but it's a large part of youth at the moment. At the end of the day this stuff is still better than the internet weirdos who get angry and dislike everything. The tweet itself sharing this is a pretty weird and bitter strawman.

I was also at that exact show! Great night. My wife loved when she threw in Exile as a mash up secret song.

I don't know about bands or performers in general, but I've certainly talked to people who have had particular songs change their lives. Usually along the lines of How To Save A Life, Fight Song, Before You Go, etc.

I mean...they all could be filming themselves for the entire concert and not just this one song and reaction. I find that stuff weird but nobody is also forcing others to watch it.

But social media is basically just about being miserable and judging others so not a shock people did just that over it.

But social media is basically just about being miserable and judging others so not a shock people did just that over it.

To provide some context this was during the Secret Song set of her concert. Taylor Swift picks a couple of surprise songs to play acoustically. Nobody knows what they will be until she starts playing them and it can be almost anything in her discography. In the last couple of weeks she also has started mashing up songs in this set increasing the song count from 2 to 3-4.

So if someone is going to record their reaction to a song it would be this section. It's the Swiftie equivalent of filming a reaction to a game announcement in a Nintendo Direct. All of these fans have songs they hope will be picked for their specific night.

Actually wait it would be more like a Smash Bros roster reveal. Fans even make up little rules that nobody has ever explicitly said and argue over them.

Right, that would be a good point... if one wasn't forced to wade through line after thumbnail of it.
