And yeah, you're mostly going to have young main characters with Shonen, because young boys are the main demographic for those. So the animation style and the characters not being kids are some of what you look for? Maybe you'd like some seinen, since that are geared more towards young men. Attack on Titatn, One Punch Man, Death Note and Cowboy Bebop are all considered seinen. All shows feeled with their own very unique character. I think they do a great job standing out from your typical animes.
