I did Cultist Base and Arc Complex already. Let's see if this shit slaps.

Either I'm getting good at this game, or that first big encounter was actually easier than the normal level.

I hear this Master level is a step up in difficulty from the first two. But so far I notice id software seems to think Tyrants surrounded by not so challenging enemies is how you make a challenging encounter.

Wait, they can just add fog to levels like that? Got it on my first try, though. Extra Life well spent.

Super Gore Nest is the "mascot" level for Eternal. It best shows off the engine and gameplay mechanics, so a little more -oomph- was put into the Master Level.

Were you ever going to get around to trying The Ancient Gods Pt. 2?

There's a BFG ammo pickup still. I think I read those disappear if you progress to far?

I decided to do Master Levels first. I want the last levels I play to be a chill, relaxing wind down. This Nightmare playthrough of the the new DOOM series has been almost 3 years in the making. I had to go back and play the main campaign of DE a couple times so I could practice and be good enough to get through TAG1.

Are you able to do Master Levels for all of the game now? I recall on release there was only a couple.

2 Tyrants and a DOOM Hunter in a claustrophobic room.

Not to make light of a sensitive topic, but I think I know what being violated feels like right now.

There are 5 master levels for the main campaign, and 1 for the DLC. There were only 2 master levels at launch.

Used the unmakyr and one crucible to get through that encounter. Still at full BFG ammo because I went and got the pickup afterwards.

I wish they did a master version for every level.

Yeah, I wouldn't think it would be that hard. Just insert different enemies onto the otherwise complete level.

So the open arenas on this level are easy peasy. It's these right corridors where they are putting the challenge.

Holy cow. This last checkpoint just isn't fair. There's nothing cute about having to fight 2 Archviles after eliminating 4 Tyrants.

Well my computer has been in sleep mode and will continue to be until my next off day (Friday). Hopefully nothing happens before then, because I'll have to play the whole level again. In which case I'll probably just play TAG2 and not attempt the Master Levels again for a long time.

My game closed itself when I tried to play after leaving my PC on sleep mode for almost 72 hours. So we're starting TAG2 tonight! I think it will be some later chapter in my life before I attempt completing any Master Levels again.
