I put up a gaming wheel and stand combo for $120. After like a week, a real guy finally shows up. He says he only brought $80 cash and thats all hes willing to pay. Im like no, you said $120 is good over text. Hes like Im here, let me just get it. After a few minutes, he says he happened to find an extra $20 bill, and if Im willing to take $100. I said no, and he started to get really frustrated. He actually left empty handed then drove back like not even 2 minutes later and said he found another extra $20 bill and he took it for $120.

What the hell was that about?

Its a common tactic. They think youre desperate to sell it and theyre already there might as well sell it to them

People on Facebook groups and marketplace are legit cheap asses all day long.

I couldnt even give a couch away for free without people asking if I could deliver it lol.

I've seen FB haggling but only during texts not after the agreed price but I've probably made like 7 purchases off FB so far.

It is a common practice that takes advantage of those who need "cash upfront" right away. Sometimes I give in if I know the item isn't in hot demand or something. The worst of it is when they severely undersell the worth of a hot item that I had to literally laugh at their face and walk away from them.

He's going through the emotions of grief and then acceptance which is why he kept on going back and forth.

Me-"Let me guess, you work for a dealership."
Them-"Well I work at a dealership."
Me-"Is this a personal purchase, or is this to buy to sell at the dealership? You are offering much less than I posted it for. You are on the low end of trade in value."
Them-"How about $500 more?"
Me- "That is still trade in value. If I wanted to sell for trade in value, I would just drop it off at a dealership."
Them-"It's the best deal anyone will make. You wont get more than trade in value."
Me- "Not with the market adjustment I'm going to add for you."

Yeah, I had success selling my Mazda 3 for a good price, but it was during the pandemic. And yes, I had dealers calling me but I was patient and leaned how to weed through the low ballers.

I love FB Marketplace, it is the only reason to still have FB tbh.

But I'd never actually sell shit on there. Great as a buyer though.

Happens on Craigslist too.
