Who actually likes US presidents? You have to go back like half a century plus to find one that's fondly remembered.

It's specifically George Washington that the holiday is celebrating. It's his birthday.

Close to the birthdays of the one that ended slavery and the first one who did or did not murder cherry trees. These are equivalent and special things.

It's a ripoff. It's a combo of Washington and Lincoln days to cut back on time off.

And make Casimir Pulaski Day a thing again and nationwide.

Irregardless, for all intensive purposes, I could care less.

That reminds me. It's not a holiday if you don't get the day off.

In school, they tried to push Earth Day and Columbus Day. But those are definitely not holidays, because you don't get the day off.

I did actually have a job once where I got President's Day off though. But not MLK Day. I dunno. California-based company.

Was there a time when Washington's and Lincoln's birthdays were separate holidays? I wanna say yes, but I'm not sure.

I vaguely remember that being the case back when I was in grade school in northern Chicago (October 1982 - September 1985).

When modern man does the same thing, they call it GOLF.

I miss when Presidents Day was an excuse for TNT monster movie marathons.

And having the day off. I don't know anyone who actually celebrates the day for what the stated purpose is.
