The earliest I can think of is Time Splitters: Future Perfect in 2005. I feel like there had to be something before that, but I can't say for sure.

I know as a kid I only got money for Christmas and my birthday (early Feb) so I only really bought games at the beginning of the year. I also know the only console I ever owned at launch was a Wii U

Probably Twilight Princess which I bought alongside my Wii (which was the first, and only, console I bought on launch day).

Even as a teenager when I had my own money I still rented games way more often than I bought them, so any games I bought were generally well after launch because I'd rent them first.

Launch day that I bought with my own money, it was probably Megaman Battle Network 4 or 5.

I think I bought 4 used because I didn't have a lot of money and 5 new

I've never had a day one purchase.

I saw Jurassic Park the day that it came out. Other than that, it hasn't really called to me to see, watch, buy something as soon as it's available. I'll get to it when I have the time and money.

I've never been one to go into school or work tired the next day because I had to be there for a midnight release.

Tekken Tag Tournament 2. Although the relative lateness of that is mostly because I was never particularly in a rush to get new games prior to that one, rather than a lack of ability to do so; I could've been buying games on release for about 5-6 years by that point if I had wanted to.

I've booked a day off work several times for a midnight release.

Although at this point, you can barely find a shop to buy games from, plus I don't ever see myself ever buying another videogame, so that's all in the past now.

Yeah, I'd been buying games for about 8 or 9 years, but games never used to have a release day, so that's why it took me so long.
