Could be a bad breaker, a plug that's in line burning up, a loose connection somewhere. Hard to say. Need a good electrician to look at it.

Could be one bad outlet at the start of the circuit causing everything after to be affected Some older houses have rooms wired all to one breaker so lights and outlets are affected.
