Why though? Why should dems be the ones helping a bunch of filthy goppers that tend to spurn help at every turn? Let them suffer.

1. Because it's the right thing to do.

2. A bigger grid, like a bigger insurance pool, should see benefits for the whole nation, to one degree or another. It helps us all.

What exactly is your opinion on it though? Like if you are going to engage in the topic but not explain any of your answers, I have to believe you are trolling. I really do want to understand your position, though.

That's the part I don't feel the need to get into. We'll all just run in circles on here "well actually". I'm good on that. I don't agree with it, I hope it doesn't pass. The users here (not necessarily you) feel so much like they need a justification for everything.

I'm not a republican either. I don't vote for president or any of that shit. I guess I align conservative, but I give them a lot of shit because they're so gung-ho in support of us invading other countries and stuff like that. Helping Ukraine. Helping Israel. Whatever. I say just mind our own business.

It's like when there's a story about record-breaking heat waves, and one of the comments on it is "don't worry, they said to use paper straws, recycle plastic and get the vaccine and climate change will go away."

And yes, that was an actual comment on a story in Western Australia (about the state's hottest town) recently. They just couldn't help themselves. Couldn't resist throwing in that anti-vaxx talking point because conservatives have merged all social and political issues together. Surprised they didn't throw in some shit about "boys pretending to be girls and taking away our important white fictional characters" while they were at it.

This has been an extremely embarrassing day for one person in this topic.

So honestly, after the topic today, I was pretty heavily challenged. It made me think a lot, maybe I am wrong? But I wasn't sure, I wanted to do my research first. So I looked into the Connect the Grid Act, and it seems its main purposes are:

Connecting the Texas ercot grid to the neighboring grids, bringing it under the same oversight that those fall under for regulatory and safety purposes, and also requiring the department of energy to conduct studies on the benefits of having a direct energy connection to Mexico via ercot.

Honestly it seems like this will help with having a more reliable power supply for Texas in emergencies, but also help the surrounding regions if they're ever in trouble and need Texas's help. Also it will no doubt generate a lot of revenue for Texas. Not to mention, it will help promote renewable energy for Texas in the long run.

It's crazy, but CE actually changed my mind and really had me look into this. All I had to do was let go just a little bit of that negativity and really do my own research on the project. At this point I'm asking, why wouldn't we do it?

What's really crazy is, I was willing to vote against this simply out of fear and spite against the other side, when this could help save millions of lives from freezing to death. I guess years of Fox News and Alex Jones really take a toll, I didn't understand that before. But now, I'm ready for a change.
