Since this is objectively a good idea that will help thousands, if not millions, of people, Republicans will instinctively oppose it.

But I was told Republicans were the party of personal freedom and standing up for the little guy.

I don't know who to believe anymore.

Would it cause issues with the national grids? I mean connecting such a shitty grid to an national grid that already needs upgrades decades ago is going to cause problems.

If Texas doesn't fix their grid all this does is hurt everyone else's grids. Don't get me wrong, Texas should join, but they should be forced to upgrade before they do.

Just wait until people read the article and realize that one of the co-sponsors is AOC. If you thought Texans were going to freak out hearing that the federal government is introducing a bill to force their grid onto the national one, just wait until they hear that AOC is one of the people pushing it.

Which is especially strange, as during that one blackout, she was boots-on-the-ground helping people affected by it, while their own elected Senator Ted Cruz was away in Cancun.

Even if they did, it could still take years or a decade+, to implement it. To which they would decide it isn't worth the time/money.

Of course it's not going to pass, Texas likes it's freedumb too much. I still can't imagine why you wouldn't want lower costs and greater reliability though. Is it the Jewish space lasers, the 5g vaccine chips, or Hunter Bidens laptop?

I will take any excuse you give me, but the real one is: Because you think it would be a good idea. And I guarantee that is how Texas will approach it.

Because Texas has millions of blue voters? Texas had more people who voted for Biden in 2020 than every state except California. 3.5 MILLION Texans voted for Beto in 2022, more than the combined population of Montana, Wyoming, and North and South Dakota. Maybe don't throw them under the bus?

Our national grid ain't doing great, either. I mean, better than Texas, but we have something like 90-year-old hooks rusting through cables that are holding together vital parts of our rural and suburban power infrastructure.

We're on the precipice of some bad shit going south ourselves.
