They're okay. I usually prefer water since the oil ones get slimy. I'd much rather get frozen tuna though.

And I buy the Walmart branded tuna. Almost no bones in it.... kinda amazing how few bones as opposed to the big brands.

Bones? I've eaten lots of cans of tuna but I don't recall ever having bones in there.

I've always wondered what the difference in taste between canned tuna and regular tuna is. I've only ever had canned, too scared to ask for tuna sushi because of my disdain for the canned stuff.

I like both, but the canned versions are worse. Because of the added salt, mass cooked meat with preservatives.

Sushi should taste clean and not fishy.

Yeah, canned is more grainy in texture. If you're going for sushi, it's most likely not cooked so you're going to get a completely different texture and the taste is more subtle.

It's bad enough that you shouldn't eat more an 2 cans a week or something like that.

Yep. There are recommendations on how much you can safely eat but I dont trust the stuff since the amount of mercury in each can can vary so wildly.

Your body has no way to filter or process mercury out of your system so it can stick around long enough to cause all sorts of issues in your kidneys or other organs

tuna are much higher up the food chain so they get all the mercury from everything they eat, and everything that stuff ate

plus they are huge and its just a lot of mercury that builds up compared to other meat sources

idk, it's what my vet said when I asked them about canned tuna. they said the oil kind has more sodium and vegetable oils aren't really good for cats/can cause digestion issues.

yeah guess so. Very likely dogs couldn't eat that stuff. Cats' diet must be much more meat oriented usually

I prefer Tuna in water for my quick lazy meal bowl.

Sm. Tuna can in water + Sm. can of whole kennel corn + small cup Minute Rice

Heat them up for a few minutes, add seasoning (or some Tabasco sauce if I'm feeling spicy), dollop a few spoonfuls of mayonnaise, and stir. Tasty and filling.

You haven't experienced how good tuna can be unless you ditch bottom tier albacore and try out yellow or blue fin.
