I bet they will tinker with some shit to make the final big edition like that. Where it's all one giant game with progress carrying between the parts. Seems like the no brainer thing to do with the eventual "remaster"

sadly carrying over data between games is not going to happen

SE was to lazy to balance these around that concept

it gives jessie a bit more character

but beyond that its just expanding what was 2 or 3 screens in the original into a large dungeon

or adding in a bunch of side quests (which we now know where pointless as none of that carries over)

edit: oh and it adds in the confusing meta sequel stuff that reveals the original game was a bad ending

not played the witcher games so i wont touch those

battle network each installment tells a complete story and time passes between each game

yes its pure gameplay story segregation that lan looses all the battlechips but again you got a complete game

star ocean 2 the side quests are part of its own narrative and story they matter in the context of that

same for chrono trigger

the 13 trilogy is a mess but the first game again still a complete story

and once again this is true for kingdom hearts

7 remake is NOT a complete story rebirth picks up right where remake left off

the side quests where allegedly ment to flesh out midgard and the narrative

rebirth should have taken these things in to account so they could play in to later parts of the narrative

I think it had maybe like 20 hours of solid story moments and 10 hours of story padding that was hit or miss. But the game does a lot of things well too. It gave birth to whats probably the best action battle system the series as seen, which actually lets you use all characters while still retaining the same strategies from previous games. Graphics and music are top notch. For what they tried to do, the game is a solid 8.5 which coincides with the game's metacritic score of 87.

Same thing happened in the mass effect trilogy too and we were fine with that

And while the side quests were sometimes just busy work, they did add flavor and character to the world and lore, which I appreciated a lot more than "go get 3 of these and we won't really talk about why"

personally id have prefered a turn based game but *shrug*

also i hate how your forced to walk around as cloud so that if you are playing as some one else in battles the camera has to jump to them its jarring

I'm glad they went action based but that's a valid complaint. And your second complaint there is valid too. There should be a way to have it auto switch to your preferred character in battle if they're not gonna let you be the character out of battle

I enjoyed 95 percent of the final Fantasy VII remake. The other five percent were those fate ghosts.

Tbf, Square says this about like every game. Best to always assume they're lying.

?? The Nvidia Geforce Now leak from 2022 which had a list of upcoming amd unannounced games? FF9 remake was on that list and its one of the few titles that still havent been talked about officially.

The rumors are that its on a much smaller scale than 7 remake. Probably just one game.
