Sometimes it's because they're automating those jobs. If a company fires people because they automated their jobs away that generates bad press so instead they'll wait for those people to quit and just never replace them.

They constantly push those who are sticking around to work harder, faster, and longer all for the sake of saving corporation on labor costs.

"We're actually not hiring" also makes it look good for investors and shareholders, which is the number priority for any major corporation.

Companies only want the most desperate people who will take on the most work and cant change jobs. This way they can fire people or just not replace those who quit, keep costs down and pump the stock.

I grew up in a poor community where many didnt have cars or had bad ones and you get a close job or one on a bus line and youll eat a lot of shit because its not feasible to get a new one.

Its the top struggle with white collar jobs, how do we screw with employees who can easily leave and find new jobs?
