35 minutes of the Arizona Government Committee singling out one religion and prohibiting public displays because they find it offensive to christianity. The chairman, Jake Hoffman was one of Trump's fake electors that tried to overturn the election.

The way they talk down to the citizens in opposition to their rights being taken away is sickening.

Juan Mendez (D), the only person to vote against this stupid fucking bill said: This proposal isnt even a dog whistle, it is a straight up attack on religion

A similar bill is being introduced in Iowa.

Now that I think about it, that's probably their only real intention. They'll get shot down, but it'll appeal to religious conservatives because they're were the ones fighting the good fight. It's the damned liberals who want to protect Satan and his wicked followers.

There needs to be a law making it a crime to try to send bills that are in obvious violation of the Constitution. At least the First Amendment.

They should definitely be sanctioned. The Iowa bill is especially heinous. If I lived in Iowa, and this bill passed I could theoretically be arrested for wearing what I'm right now (Twin Temple leggings) if I were to enter a public space.

I'm a bit more concerned about what might go down in Iowa, with a far-right governor that is more sympathetic to christian nationalists, like Kim Reynolds and has already signed bad bills into law.

It's so blatantly a violation of the constitution though that I don't think it will pass, but you never know.

Depends on which satanism. The ones that have these politicians pissing themselves are entirely a political movement, but LaVey Satanism is more of a philosophical creed-as-religion thing. Then there's the actual Hail Satan types, strong Scandi black metal presence there.

I'm a Satanist, and I'm very sincere in my beliefs. Many religions are non-theistic.

I also think it's very ignorant whenever someone does attempt a counter-balance to the religious privilege Christians are afforded in this country, that you assume they're doing it to just troll them.

Just so you're aware, even though TST as an organization is more known for its activism, not all members join for that reason.

Incorrect. TST has their own philosophy, local congregations, religious services, rituals, community.... They're just as much a religion as others.

There do exists theistic Satanists. (Probably fewer in number than sun-worshippers.) For the most part, you have the LaVeyan method of, "I'm worshipping the bad guy, lol."

It's a protest religion. And they have every right to it.

I don't have to like it. That's what freedom of religion, freedom of expression, and freedom of speech are all about. As long they're not actively hurting you, they're allowed to do as they please.

So, while I don't like their religion, the thing that triggers me in this equation is someone telling them they have no right to it. I don't have to like their religion. You don't have like to like mine. The important thing is that people are allowed to keep their own religion, or leave religion alone, so long as they don't infringe upon the rights of others. This Christian group is attempting to do just that.

Not exactly. The Satanic Temple does have its own dogma. It's weird in the sense that it's a "secular atheist religion" but they do have their own beliefs to which they argue are held in the same sincerity as other religions. The part that most people are probably familiar with is the employment of satanic symbolism as a means to counteract taboos impressed by other religions.

Church of Satan is the LaVeyan stuff which is basically a remixed Christianity+Magic.

Without typing a whole essay, I'll just say Satan to me represents personal sovereignty, pride and individuality. While both the philosophies of Anton LaVey and The Satanic Temple resonate with me deeply, I'm not too keen on organized religion, so I'd jokingly consider myself nondemonational .
