There's literally nothing in my area in the way of even low-end retail or food service jobs as I can't even get contacted back from places like Target.

I'm on Indeed looking at remote work and 99% of the employers are out-of-state and require employees to live in the same state, plus there's no detailed information as to what the jobs actually entail or how much the pay is.

Also the fact that most of these jobs require a bachelor's degree is really killing me. If I lie on my resume and say I have one, I'm screwed though.

If it's for like some random entry level job, I doubt they'd even care to look it up or verify. Although I probably wouldn't lie about it just to be on the safe side.

I hate this push for people to be in office for jobs that dont need it. Its actually insane to me.

I cant imagine having my head shoved so far up my own ass to be like people are just as productive at home as they are in the office? Some even more productive? DONT CARE! I need to have control over people

I've applied to over 40 different entry-level jobs and never got any responses back. A few of them just directed me to sign up for temp/staffing agencies and one was an AI training scam.

People have been found to be more productive outside of the office, but managers have to justify their existence somehow. They also want to justify their millions dollar lease.

Yeah it all just boils down to this. Control and non-empty leases. They can't break the lease so they want to make sure it's being used for some reason, even at the cost of employee morale and productivity.

For software engineering the job market was amazing from 2021-2022. Now its pretty awful. I dont think well ever get back to that kind of market but I would at least like pre pandemic state.

Even tho Im employed I at least like to know theres other opportunities out there in my area. But there isnt much.

Im surprised tho that even entry level jobs are scarce. I keep hearing thats one area thats booming.

I'm on Indeed looking at remote work
Make sure you sign up for an account and add all your experience/education to the account. Employers/recruiters use the job sites to search for potential employees and will reach out to them. That way you aren't doing all the leg work on your own. I'd also recommend doing the same with LinkedIn. They have a job search section on their site and you can filter by remote jobs.

I've done this. I also spent a lot of time taking Indeed assessments which basically grade you on your listed skills and then share that info with employers. I only have top grades/ranks for these assessments and they haven't helped at all.

Its not about control, its about commercial real estate. They spent a fortune buying or leasing it, and they dont want it to become worthless.

I'm actually wondering if as leases expire over the next few years, we'll see more companies change their stance on remote work.

We can only hope. But the ones who own rather than lease probably wont.
