No ice for me.

Something I noticed last year while visiting the USA was that bars and restaurants put tons of ice in all beverages.
(Please note, I don't refer to specific alcoholic drinks that are usually mixed with ice by default. I refer to beverages that are perfectly fine without ice, like a coke or a whiskey).

I don't like ice for several reasons:

  • The ice often tastes bad, especially when it was made of bad tap water.
  • Cold drinks are already cold enough for me. There's no need to serve them even colder.
  • The ice makes everything "watery" and ruins otherwise tasty drinks.

They're cold either way - ice just makes it get watered down and you get less of your drink.

Ice because it makes the drink feel and taste better. I went to Europe and Asia for work and during a hot day they would serve me a drink lukewarm temperature, they don't even bother refrigerating it.

If it's a fountain drink, I'll fill my cup a quarter to halfway with ice. If I'm drinking something at home, I'll take it without ice, since it's usually cold enough from the refrigerator.
