Oddly enough I could see it working to attract THOTs or something, as youre literally wearing $3500 on your face, which screams youre both financially well off and incredibly gullible.

Having them as glasses or even sunglasses wouldn't allow for the same depth of field, along with a lot of other issues that would lower the quality. They'd need to either be contact lens size or implanted into your head somehow. Other than that, people are gonna have to get used to wearing goggles of some sort if they really the full experience at the highest quality.

Also, as far as the rest of the topic goes, I know it's cool and all, but people are being stupid. Driving in these is just dumb, no matter how good the pass through is on these.

EDIT: Like, the video of the guy supposedly typing things on the subway. He does the "ring finger to pointer finger wave" motion like, four times. Literally what word could you possibly be typing, repeatedly, with that motion?

You use it to get the directions, then take it off and cook via said directions. The entire reason they don't want you to have it on while you cook is because it's a distraction, and you could burn yourself, or worse, if you're randomly gesturing.

Most of cooking directions are pre-actual cooking, anyway. It's no different than using a cookbook. You shouldn't be focusing on a cookbook when you have things literally cooking.

iPad is literally not different than using a book, though. You use it to get the measurements, ingredients, and so on, and then use it less once the actual literal cooking begins.

tbf it's not like I can't see the benefits, but for cooking you don't really need a 600g, full on immersion mr headset. Even the timers can be used on decent ar glasses, once they actually come out. They won't cost as much as this would either.

Right, it's really not that different. And that makes sense, honestly. Technology hasn't advanced enough to make it very different. It's a novelty, more than anything, at this point.

My point was mainly against people being like "lol it tells you not to use it while cooking but has an app that adds timers while cooking," but that app is a third party app, and thus it's not really applicable.

Seems pretty useless/cumbersome, but this is like gen 1 type stuff. It may take many years but I could see something along these lines actually becoming useful in the future as it develops further.

In short they seem pretty limited like you cant even walk while viewing the windows because it cant track your surroundings. It cant even display windows while seated on a subway because of the jostling. But he says the experience is pretty cool when still.
