I'm getting one in the next few days at the gym literally across the street from my job. I took it as a good sign/omen. That i need to get a gym membership and start working out harder! With equipment finally. I do simple workouts at home, I.e push ups/suats/burpees.

A lot of people get gym memberships thinking it will motivate them to start going to the gym. It doesn't work that way. You need to be internally motivated with more compelling factors and then disciplined in your approach. Going to the gym needs to be as automatic to you as those card payments are.

Who needs a gym when I train in the mountains.
I concentrate under waterfalls, punch boulders and split them apart with my physical prowess, jump across tree branches like a seasoned ninja, scale mountains like nothing.
all at the cost of 0 dollars

It actually does work that way for alot of people. Everyone is different guy. Getting in that gym maybe will help them push more. It's definitely A POSITIVE motivator.

There's nothing wrong with how someone works out. And there's definitely nothing wrong with going to the gym .

For a couple of weeks, sure. Maybe a month or two if you don't run unto any "life happens" shit.

If the only reason you go to the gym is because you begrudge that $50 or whatever a month, your attendance will dry up fast.

I mean this is literally the business model that commercial gyms are banking on. They want you to pay and not go.

You need a purpose, goals, habit to last longer than that.

Yeah I've had it for like 3 years. Going to the gym is like a fun RPG basically. Mine is fairly cheap, but it's crazy what people will pay here.

So you are saying gyms have no benefits? If that's the case then why do they even exists?

I'm not sure you're understanding my point at all.

Regularly training is great for you on many levels. Everyone should be physically active to some degree if they can be and if they are interested in their quality of life.

But if like a lot of people you (not "you"personally) have chronic "I should go to the gym" guilt and you think that buying a gym membership will turn that around, it won't. The desire to go and building the habit to keep going has to come internally.

Many gyms exist to make money. Commercial gym models exist on the premises that the majority of their members will buy a membership and then not go. That is why 60% of the space is taken up with bullshit fancy machines that no one who actually seriously trains will want to use.

Nah I get what you are saying bro. We all have our own preferences. After all that's part of being human.

rest of December and January i havent gone there because of the winter weather since I walk over to the rec center.

But since the weather just started getting nice and warm this week in the mid 40s I might as well go back and get back into lifting weights and on the treadmill

You need to have a solid program and goals. With these in mind, they will motivate you to push yourself harder and lift more weight for example..This is what motivates me to go the gym besides health benefits

i still go. but its annoying when during 3 to 5 the rec center gym areas get overrun by students from high school or from one of the tech school colleges.

i tend to go during the morning or during lunch time when other people arent around at the gyms
