Cuz the DICE devs (formerly) are either super slow at innovating the game or have literally no other ideas to make it interesting.

The problem with releasing any MP game these days is that gamers expect continued frequent additions/changes even after launch, and aren't patient or content enough to just enjoy what is there.
Personally, the 3v3 or whatever it was, small team size didn't appeal to me. It expects this super competitive mindset and skill set that I just can't dedicate the time to. I enjoy it casually. I tried ranked before and it was cancerous. The movement is pretty good but a bit janky. The gunplay is responsive enough and the different loadout possibilities are unique enough to have fun with a build you personally like.

Looks fairly healthy to me. I think the issue with why people get certain incorrect perceptions about "dead games" is that CE is more known to talk about JRPG's than competitive multiplayer games. It's why we also get "OW2 is dead" when in reality all you have to do is a quick steam charts search to find that's untrue. --- DI MOLTO! ... Copied to Clipboard!

I tried it and it was a cool concept but I'm not a big multiplayer guy so I dropped it. Seems to have a steady base of players though.
