A lot of other devs were inspired to make their own open world games and met the same standard or eclipsed them.

Now Bethesda games are maybe slightly above average rather than the pinnacle of the genre

Their games unmodded have always sucked

They do however provide an amazing platform for modding. Modded Skyrim is probably the best game ever.

They've been using the same damn engine they've been using since Morrowind, just Frankensteining more features onto it as time goes on.

Morrowind, Redguard, and Arena were the previous tes games. Other then that they had mainly done sports games.

its cuz the engine is old as shit and they refuse to create a new one they just keep updating the same one they have ms money now time to make a new one
