No, it seems kind of silly to suggest that several 500 topics over a week were driven primarily due to people engaging with a single user. Just because she had the most dramatic blow up over the game doesn't mean she was the only one upset over this game.

The Hogwarts controversy only made non-transphobic Potter fans feel bad for wanting to play a game. The transphobic ones? They revelled in it.

I just stated what I thought. It was one of the worst boycotts I've seen in "recent times".

It was one of the dumbest things I had seen. It even got to the point that someone made a website tracking whoever played the game on it. Even made a few streamers cry live with the harrassment. One of the most pathetic online movements I had witnessed.

That 15 million copies figure is from May, Id like to see updated numbers. Theres a good chance its similar to TotK which is at 19.5 million now. Either way its a humongous success, and demonstrates that twitter isnt real life.

When one of the most powerful religious organizations in the country spends 8 years attempting to boycott a company, and can't even keep their own members from engaging with the company, and actively have spent the last 2 decades running from the legacy of the failed boycott, I'd say that's a lot worse than a few people on twitter.

Quite honestly, you seem more invested in making sure the "boycott" of HL had more reach than it ever had.

I still need to play that, but whenever games get super hyped like BG3 I tend to let it die down to see what people really think in retrospect. I dislike jumping on hype trains tbh.

Quick search however puts it at more than 22 million. Geez.

I would not be surprised, but it comes from SteamSpy and the numbers are not always accurate. Doesn't that make it the best selling non Pokmon turn based rpg if true.

Pretty sure Yakuza like a dragon sold more than 700k since Sega have said the series went from 14k to like 21k in only a few years

I would assume SteamSpy only counts Steam sales. BG3 was also released same day on GOG I believe and was definitely released on PS5 as well.

We can be pedantic as much as you want. Using a general figure of speech is what I stand by and you're not gonna get me to be unnecessarily specific because users on this site can't understand the concept of a general statement, especailly in relation to the topic at hand.

Every time I read a topic about Hogwarts Legacy I can feel my brain cells dying.

There are no epic owns to be had here. In the end it was an 8.5/10 game that sold a ton of copies. It didn't flop, and it didn't change the world. It's over.
