Greed is greed

Problem is how do you separate the notion of greed versus the notion that companies put their own time and money into creating a product for people to buy and they have to pay all sorts of workers and ad agencies/production facilities/shipping companies?

That's 16% inflation over almost two decades when groceries, housing, and education have more than doubled for the people making them. I guess it's nice that game consumers are not the victim of the greed.

So why did they get fired iyo?

Hopefully games cost 90 dollars soon.

Why?

That's why consoles are going to be walled gardens, as they call it. So, they can charge you a premium and you have no alternative to get it elsewhere (see: Nintendo in particular, though to get round that, the used market for Nintendo crap is thriving, so you always break even.)

As long as online stores remain, and cross-country trading remains (thank you EU), then PC gaming should remain relatively free of too many barriers pushing the prices up.

IMO though, no game is ever worth 80+ and barely any of them are worth 50 tbh. There's enough whales out there though to keep things thriving. I play a f2p MMO at the moment, and the MTX's on that is now 100 for a bundle, or 20+ for a single item. They're turning a profit too, just from the whales. Makes me wonder if they'd make even more money, were they to price it more reasonably tbh.

Greed and incompetence of executives making bad bets definitely, also rising interest rates making it risker to finance projects that aren't sure bets, and dilution of the market with tons of AA looking indie Unreal/Unity projects that make it so professional AA studies cannot distinguish themselves from the slush.

Im just saying if there's a victim or negative thing going on here, it's not consumers having to pay $70

So we agree that the heart of the matter is greedy ignorant execs.
You could raise prices all you wanted and they would still layoff.

So game prices aren't the issue or an issue.

You are outnumbered by people who will gleefully pay full price for something they'll play once.
There is no hope.

There is also no problem playing something once if they completed the game and had fun with it. Games still take money to make in the grand scheme of things.

I didn't even get into that though, I said you're outnumbered by these people as in nothing will change, battle passes and lootboxes will continue to be accepted.
Gotta get the shiny new thing as soon as possible.
